As we spend the day preparing for Thanksgiving tomorrow, I can’t help but get emotional as I think back on the last 7 1/2 years. Andrew and I started our business in early 2009 with a dream but no real vision, and we had no idea if we could make a living doing what we were most passionate about. I remember telling Andrew those first few months “If this business fails, it doesn’t mean that WE fail. It just means that we weren’t meant to do it and we will find something else to do.” It took a solid 3 years of hard work, lots of tears, lots of failed marketing strategies, lots of practice shooting on friends and family members, and lots of rejections for our business to start “taking off”. We never imagined that we would be where we are today, shooting at some of the most beautiful venues in Arizona and working with the most incredibly talented people. We never knew that something as simple as a camera could help us to build our dream life and provide for our family. And most days, we are still in shock. I often still feel like that young married couple praying in our tiny little apartment that we would be successful and that we would make enough money to buy a can of formula for our newborn. While I am thankful for many, many things this Thanksgiving, I have to say here for all to read- I am SO thankful for our couples. We have captured over 280 weddings in the last 7 1/2 years- that is 280 couples who have trusted us with the most important day of their lives. 280 couples who believed in us and saw something special in us. 280 couples who have loved us and let us capture their overflowing joy. I am in awe- we are SO grateful.
Will and Meghan are included in that number and there is really no better couple for us to use their wedding blog to express our gratitude. When I received Meghan’s wedding inquiry over a year ago, I knew she was special. When we met in person over coffee, we connected so naturally and it wasn’t long before I got an excited text saying that they would love to hire us- we both knew there was a deep connection and I knew Will & Meghan’s wedding was going to be one of our favorites. Not just because of the incredible details (that we didn’t even know about until we arrived at their venue on their wedding day!), but because Will & Meghan are the nicest, most genuine people I think we have ever met. All throughout their planning process, they were so laid back about everything- letting us choose their engagement session location, never questioning our thoughts on their timeline, and even on the wedding day, they never questioned us and were happy to follow our direction and our photo ideas. We knew without a doubt that they trusted us so fully and they made us feel SO valuable and so loved. Andrew and I were beaming their entire day as we felt complete creative freedom. The weather was gorgeous, their vendor team was incredible, they didn’t stop smiling the entire day- it was the PERFECT wedding. And I will say it again and again, we just cannot believe that THIS is our JOB! I’ll let the photos below tell the story of their day, but I have to end with this:
Thank you to our clients, our friends, our friendors, and our supporters for making our dream a reality. We are so, so, so thankful for you all. Happy Thanksgiving!! -A&EJ
