Andrew and I both LOVE Lifestyle Sessions… even to the point of waking up at 5:30am to make them happen. This past Saturday, Andrew and I went to bed very late after I arrived home from a party and Andrew watched the entire movie The Hobbit for the first time (nerd… :)). We knew we were going to be so tired the next morning but we also knew it was completely worth it! We love the light in the early morning! We also love the light in the early evening (and we use that light for 95% of our shoots), but there is something about early morning light that is so magical and so… even. When Shana requested a sunrise shoot since their sweet 4 month old Levi would be much happier in the morning than the last hour before bed (we call that last hour before bed “the witching hour”. Our kids are always undone and moody and it’s just not pretty around our house. I am sure most parents can relate!), we jumped at the opportunity! We could so relate to Shana and we knew Levi would be so much calmer and the pictures would be so much better if we utilized his “happy time”.
When the alarm went off at 5:30am, up we went! Camera gear and coffee mugs in hand and out the door! We started off the session meeting at the Coffee Bar at The Wigwam so the Sparks could enjoy some breakfast and coffee. We were thrilled when they ordered pastries as they added a fun element to the shoot. As most of you know, we try to be very hands off photographers. Our favorite photos are the ones where our clients have a coffee mug in hand, a smile on their face and are in conversation with each other… that is REAL life… and we love to capture real life and relationships as they happen. That is why we have a special place in our hearts for Lifestyle sessions… we get to be in THEIR world, watching THEM interact at a place that THEY love for two whole hours… it is pure bliss for a storytelling photographer. :)
We walked all around the Wigwam Resort shaking rattles and Shana singing “5 Little Monkey’s Jumping on the Bed” to get Levi to laugh and look and we quickly became obsessed with their adorable little boy!! Here are some of our favorites from their session… Enjoy!
And just for fun, here are a couple with their HUGE and adorable puppy :)
